Zenefits

Overview

To access your Zenefits payroll and employee data, we'll need you to add us as an administrator on your account with view-only permissions. This gives us access to the information we need for your bookkeeping without the ability to make changes to your employee or company settings. Setup takes about 5 minutes.

What You'll Need

  • Access to your Zenefits account as a primary administrator

Setup Instructions

  1. Log into your Zenefits account with your primary administrator credentials.
  2. Select Company on the left-hand side of the dashboard, then Administrators.
  3. Under Additional Administrators, click + Add Administrator.
  4. When asked, select the option indicating the new admin is not an employee.
  5. Enter the following username:
    • Username: thirdpartylogins+your.business.name@bench.co
  6. You'll be prompted to assign a role. Before selecting one, please let your bookkeeper know which options are available — they'll confirm which role is the right fit.
  7. When configuring permissions, grant View Sensitive Information only. Do not enable Hire/Edit privileges.
  8. Click Add Admin.

Please message your bookkeeper to let them know this has been completed, as the email invite link is not a monitored email.

What To Expect After Setup

Once you've added the administrator, our team will receive a confirmation email and finalize access — typically within one business day. No further action is needed on your end.

Troubleshooting

  • I don't see "Administrators" under Company.
You may not be logged in as the primary administrator. Check with whoever originally set up your Zenefits account.
  • I'm not sure which role to select.
That's okay — just let your bookkeeper know the options listed and they'll tell you which one to choose.
  • I accidentally granted Hire/Edit permissions.
Go back to Company → Administrators, find the Bench user, and update the permissions to View Sensitive Information only.
  • I'm not sure what to use for the username.
Replace your.business.name with your actual business name, no spaces. For example, if your business is Maple Goods, the username would be thirdpartylogins+maple.goods@bench.co. Your bookkeeper can confirm the exact format.
