Overview
Setting up a third-party login gives your Bench bookkeeping team view-only access to your Sherwin Williams Portal. This allows your bookkeeper to download statements and transaction details on your behalf so you don't have to manually pull and upload them each month.
What You'll Need
1. Login access with admin/owner-levelpermissions
2. The email address provided by yourbookkeeper (formatted as thirdpartylogins+business.name@bench.co)
Note: Sometimes they might require additionalinformation like EIN, 2FA, etc.

- Navigate to Settings, User Management, Account Access, or a similarly named section, then select Add User or Add Authorized User.

What To Expect After Setup
After you send the invitation, our team will receive and accept the access request. This process may take 1–3 business days depending on the institution.
Once connected, your bookkeeper will be able to securely view account activity and download reports needed for bookkeeping purposes. No transactional or administrative access should be granted.
If additional verification or approval is required by the institution, your bookkeeper will reach out with next steps.
Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting FAQ
- I can’t find the option to add a user. What should I do?
Look under sections such as Settings, User Management, Account Access, Security, Team Members, or Manage Users. - Why don’t I see permission options like “View Activity” or “View Only”?
Permission names vary by institution. Select the most limited or read-only access available, and do not enable payments, transfers, admin access, or user management permissions. - I’m unable to add a new user. Why?
You may not be signed in as the primary account owner or administrator. Only admins typically have permission to manage users. - The invitation email was not received. What should I check?
First, confirm the email address was entered exactly as provided by your bookkeeper. Some systems may also delay delivery or require approval steps before sending the invite. - The invitation expired. What should I do?
Delete or cancel the pending invite (if possible) and send a new invitation. - The system is asking for additional verification. Is this normal?
Yes. Some institutions require multi-factor authentication or an additional approval step before user access can be granted. - What if the platform does not support view-only access?
Choose the most limited permission set available and avoid granting payment, transfer, wire, admin, or user-management permissions. - How will I know the setup is complete?
After sending the invitation, notify your bookkeeper directly since the invitation inbox is not monitored. - What should I do if I still cannot complete setup?
Contact the institution’s support team and ask whether they support “view-only third-party accountant access” or “read-only user access.”
