Overview

Setting up a third-party login for SAFE Credit Union gives your Bench bookkeeping team view-only access to your SAFE Credit Union bank statements. This allows your bookkeeper to download statements directly so you don't have to manually pull and upload them each month.

What You'll Need

• Your SAFE Credit Union log-in information

• Your Bookkeeper's phone number (ask them for it before you attempt to set up the third-party login, as they will need to respond to a call while you're setting it up)

Setup Instructions

To grant access:

  1. Log in to Online Banking (setup not available in the mobile app)
  2. Select More
  3. Choose Share Access
  4. Click + Add Person
  5. Enter the person's name, phone number, and email
    1. First Name: Bench
    2. Last Name: Accounting
    3. Phone Number: Bookkeeper's phone number (ask them to provide this for you)
    4. Email: thirdpartylogins+your.business.name@bench.co (if that doesn’t work, use your bookkeeper's email address @bench.co - ask them for it directly)
    5. Note - for your.business.name, use your own business name with periods instead of spaces. If your business is ACME Tools Inc, use thirdpartylogins+acme.tools.inc@bench.co
  6. Select the accounts you want them to access
  7. Choose their level of access (View Only, Make Internal Transfers, Make Bill Payments)
  8. Choose the permission ‘View Only (statements and general ledgers)’
  9. Click Continue

What happens next:

  • The person will receive an email with their login credentials
  • They'll need to open the link, verify their identity using the phone number you provided, and then log in with their own username and password
  • Please message your bookkeeper to let them know this has been completed, as the email invite link is not a monitored email.

To manage access:

  1. Log in to Online Banking
  2. Select More
  3. Choose Share Access
  4. Locate the person you've granted access to
  5. Use the toggle to turn access on or off
  6. Use the options menu to update or remove their profile, or reset their password

What To Expect After Setup

Once your bookkeeper confirms access, they'll be able to pull your SAFE Credit Union statements directly, no action needed from you going forward. If anything changes with your account (such as a password update or a change in permissions), let your bookkeeper know so they can adjust accordingly.

Troubleshooting

  • The thirdpartylogins+[your.business.name]@bench.co email doesn't work.
    You may have to use your bookkeeper's direct email address in a similar format. (bookkeeper's.name+your.business.name@bench.co). Ask your bookkeeper to provide you this information.
  • I changed my SAFE Credit Union password.
    This won't affect your bookkeeper's access since they log in through a separate user invite. No action is needed on your end.
