Overview

To access your Patriot Software payroll data, we'll need you to add us as a user with view-only access to your payroll reports. This gives us the data we need for your bookkeeping without the ability to make changes. Setup takes about 5 minutes.

What You'll Need

Access to your Patriot Software account with administrator permissions to manage users

Setup Instructions

  1. Log into your Patriot Software account.
  2. Go to Settings, then click User Settings → Manage Users.
  3. Click Add New.
  4. Enter the following email address:
    • Email: thirdpartylogins+your.business.name@bench.co
  5. Under permissions, select Payroll Permissions with the sub-option View Only Payroll Reports.
  6. Click Add User.

What To Expect After Setup

After adding the user, you'll be taken back to the Manage Users list where our status will show as Pending. This is normal — it will change once our team completes the registration process on our end, typically within one business day.

Important: The invitation is valid for 7 days. If it expires before we've registered, you can resend it from the Manage Users page.

Troubleshooting

  • I don't see "User Settings" or "Manage Users" in Settings.
You may not have administrator access. If you're the only person on the account, you should be the administrator by default — if it's still not visible, contact Patriot Software support.
  • I'm not sure what to use for the email address.
Replace your.business.name with your actual business name, no spaces. For example, if your business is Maple Goods, the email would be thirdpartylogins+maple.goods@bench.co. Your bookkeeper can confirm the exact format.
  • The user status has been "Pending" for more than a few days.
The invitation may have expired. Resend it from the Manage Users page and let your bookkeeper know so we can watch for it.
  • I'm not sure which permissions to select. Only Payroll Permissions → View Only Payroll Reports is needed. Do not select additional permissions unless your bookkeeper has specifically asked for them.
