Overview

To access your Clover merchant data, we'll need you to add us as an employee with admin-level access on your Clover Dashboard. This gives us the visibility we need to pull transaction data and reports for your bookkeeping. Setup takes about 5 minutes.

What You'll Need

  1. Access to your Clover Dashboard with permissions to add employeesx
  2. Your Bench ID — this is the number that appears after /client/ in your browser's address bar when you're logged into Bench. For example, if your URL is app.bench.co/client/33248/..., your Bench ID is 33248. If you're unsure, your bookkeeper can provide it.

Setup Instructions

  • Log into your Clover Dashboard.
  • In the left-hand menu, click Account & Setup.
  • Click Employees, then Add New Employee.
  • Enter the following information:
    • Full Name: Bench Accounting
    • Email Address: thirdpartylogins+your.business.name@bench.co
    • Custom ID: bench*(your Bench ID)* — for example, bench33248
    • Passcode: Create a temporary passcode and send it to us through your Bench app message feed. Do not send the password by email or any other platform.
    • Role: Admin
  • Click Save.
  • What To Expect After Setup

    Once you've saved the new employee, our team will have access to your Clover Dashboard right away. No invitation or acceptance step is needed on our end.

    Troubleshooting

  • I don't see "Account & Setup" in the left-hand menu.
    You may not have owner-level access to the Clover Dashboard. Check with whoever originally set up your Clover account.
  • I'm not sure what to use for the email address.
    Replace your.business.name with your actual business name, no spaces. For example, if your business is Maple Goods, the email would be thirdpartylogins+maple.goods@bench.co. Your bookkeeper can confirm the exact format.
  • I'm not sure about the passcode.
    It's the last 4 digits of your Bench ID. If your Bench ID is 33248, the passcode is 3248. If your ID is fewer than 4 digits, use the full number.
  • I don't see an "Employees" option under Account & Setup.
    This may vary depending on your Clover plan. Try searching for "Employees" in the Dashboard search bar, or reach out to your bookkeeper for help.
