Overview

To access your Clio financial reports, we'll need you to invite us as a non-attorney user on your Clio Manage account with reporting permissions. This gives us view-only access to the data we need for your bookkeeping. Setup takes about 2 minutes.

What You'll Need

  • Access to Clio Manage with admin permissions to manage users
  • An available user seat on your Clio plan

Setup Instructions

  1. Log into your Clio account.
  2. Go to Settings in Clio Manage.
  3. Select Manage Users.
  4. Click the green Add button on the right-hand side (or the blue Invite User button).
  5. Enter the following email address:
    • Email: thirdpartylogins+your.business.name@bench.co
  6. Under Subscriber Type, select Non-Attorney.
  7. Under Permissions, check the box labelled Reports.
  8. Click Send Invite.

What To Expect After Setup

Our team will receive the invitation and accept it — typically within one business day. You'll see Bench Accounting listed under your users once we've finalized access.

Troubleshooting

  • I don't see "Manage Users" in Settings.
You may not have admin permissions in Clio Manage. Check with whoever originally set up your Clio account.
  • I see both a green "Add" button and a blue "Invite User" button.
Either one works — they both start the same user invitation process.
  • I'm not sure what to use for the email address.
Replace your.business.name with your actual business name, no spaces. For example, if your business is Maple Goods, the email would be thirdpartylogins+maple.goods@bench.co. Your bookkeeper can confirm the exact format.
  • I'm getting an error about user limits.
Your Clio plan may have a cap on the number of users. Check your plan details or contact Clio support to see if an additional seat is available.
