Overview
Setting up a third-party login gives your Bench bookkeeping team view-only access to your Banc of California business portal. This allows your bookkeeper to download statements and transaction details on your behalf so you don't have to manually pull and upload them each month.
What You'll Need
1. Login access with view only access to account activity and statements
2. The email address provided by your bookkeeper (formatted as thirdpartylogins+business.name@bench.co)3. Your Bench ID — this is the number that appears after /client/ in your browser's address bar when you're logged into Bench. For example, if your URL is app.bench.co/client/33248/..., your Bench ID is 33248. If you're unsure, your bookkeeper can provide it.Setup Instructions
- Hover over Administration and click Company Administration.
- Under Manage Users, click Create New User.
- Enter a user ID, temporary password, first name, last name, email address and telephone number. The phone number will be used the first time the user logs in to authenticate them via mobile or voice code. For them to be able to authenticate via text, Mobile must be selected from the label drop-down menu. Click Continue.
- User ID: bench[benchID]
- Temporary Password: Create a temporary passcode and send it to us through your Bench app message feed. Do not send the password by email or any other platform.
- First/Last: Bench Bookkeeping
- Email: thirdpartylogins+business.name@bench.co
- Phone Number: 6504660173
- On the next screen, you can copy an existing user’s roles and entitlements. The new user’s roles will populate according to the user copied.
- If you do not have an existing user whose role or entitlements match what the new user should have, click Do Not Copy User. Next you will assign the new user’s roles, services and accounts
- To create a view-only user, do not select any roles. Click Continue.
- On the Services & Accounts page, click the (+) beside Deposit Account Reporting, Information Reporting and Statement and Documents.
- Under Information Reporting and Statements and Documents, select Entitled Account for any accounts the user will need to be able to view. Then scroll down and click Continue.
- No limits are required for view-only users. Click Continue on the limits screen, verify the user’s details and click Create User.
- You’ll see a New User – Confirmation screen.
To complete the third party login, we need to finalize the connection within 24 hours. Please let your bookkeeper know through the message feed once you have completed the instructions above.
What To Expect After Setup
Once you send the invitation, our team will receive and accept it — typically within one business day. You'll see Bench Accountant listed under Administration once we've accepted. We'll only have view-level access and cannot make purchases, payments, or account changes.
Troubleshooting
I'm not sure what to use for the email address.
Replace your.business.name with your actual business name, no spaces. For example, if your business is Maple Goods, the email would be thirdpartylogins+maple.goods@bench.co. Your bookkeeper can confirm the exact format.
