What is the Tax Questionnaire?
The tax questionnaire is an essential step in preparing your income taxes. It gathers all the necessary information for the Bench Tax team to begin their work. Previously, this information was collected through phone calls and emails, which was time-consuming for customers. To streamline the process, we've introduced an online questionnaire this year. It's designed to be efficient, taking no more than 30 minutes to complete. The quicker you complete the questionnaire, the faster we can prepare and file your taxes, ensuring a smooth and timely tax filing experience.
Why do I need to review this questionnaire?
Reviewing the questionnaire ensures that your Bench team has everything they need to know about your current Tax situation, so that they can prepare an accurate and timely tax return draft for your review.
Doesn’t Bench already have all my information?
Your specific information plays a critical role in your tax filing. Since we last captured this information, details about your business might have changed. This may include changes to your business structure, the sales of a property, or a new address. To ensure the utmost accuracy in preparing your tax filing, every year we check in with you to confirm what remains accurate and what has changed.
How long will it take me to review the questionnaire?
If you’ve previously provided us with your tax details, the questionnaire will be pre-filled with that information along with some additional questions. Depending on the amount of changes, your review time can vary slightly but we estimate it should take you about 30 minutes. You’ll be able to save your work and return to it at a later time if you need.
When is the deadline for completing it?
Capturing your most up to date information is a critical step in your tax filing process. Because of this, it’s very important to review the questionnaire as soon as possible. This will ensure that your Tax Team will have the details they need along with your Year End Financial package to get started on your tax return.

I have not received my questionnaire yet, what should I do?
If you subscribe to Bench Tax, you should receive an email with the questionnaire before February 1st, 2024. If you have not yet received it, you can email your Tax Team at benchtaxsupport@bench.co.
