About The 1099 Report

If you’ve paid an independent contractor more than $600 in a financial year, and you’ve let your Bench team that you will require 1099 reports for filing, you’ll easily be able to download your reports in the Bench app. 

With 1099 reporting in the Bench app, you get full visibility into contractor payments and transactions, access to expert resources, and can download reports anytime you want. The report itself is designed to provide you or your tax professional with all the necessary information to complete all 1099 filings. 

In the lead-up to tax season, Bench sends reminders to inform us if you need a 1099 report. The deadline to request a 1099 report for the 2023 tax year is December 11, 2023. Any requests after the deadline will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis.  

Important Reminder: Bench subscriptions do not include 1099 filings. You must complete them separately either on your own or with your tax professional. However, your bookkeeper will still provide you with a 1099 report to support your 1099 solution of choice. 

What are the 1099 filing deadlines?

  • 1099-NEC filing deadline  - January 31, 2024
  • 1099-MISC filing deadline if filing by paper - February 28, 2024
  • 1099-MISC filing deadline if filing electronically - March 31, 2024

How do I access my 1099 reports?

After logging into Bench, navigate to the ‘Tax Center’ tab in the menu and click on ‘1099 Reports’. Here you can select either 1099 NEC or 1099 MISC, select the tax year and click ‘Download’ for your report. 

How do I file my 1099 forms?

If you are working with a CPA or tax professional, they can use the 1099 report from Bench to file for you.

Forms & Resources

Bench conveniently links to important 1099 forms from the IRS within the app. Located under the "1099 Report" section, you'll find direct the1099 form links from the IRS located on the right side of your screen.
